Pueblo County Emergency Food and Shelter Program
PHASE 41 FUNDING APPLICATION
United Way of Pueblo County will administer funds on behalf of the federal Department of Homeland Security - Emergency Food and Shelter Program Phase 41 to local organizations providing services in Pueblo County. Individuals in need of assistance may not apply directly for funds.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local organizations chosen to receive funds must:
- Be a nonprofit, faith-based, or governmental organization. Faith-based agencies may not engage in proselytizing or religious counseling with federal funds.
- Submit applications to the Local Board for funding
- Must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) Number- https://sam.gov/content/duns-uei
- Must have a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) - http://www.irs.gov
- Maintain a checking account in the organization’s name for EFSP deposits
- Pay vendors directly within 90 days for services provided
- Submit required reports
Funds must be used to supplement food and shelter services and may not be used as seed money for new programs. The key responsibility of participating organizations is to provide assistance within the intent of the program. Agencies may receive funds to provide food, shelter, and supportive services, including, but not limited to:
- Food services, such as congregate meals or groceries;
- Lodging in a mass shelter, or in a hotel/motel or other off-site shelter facility limited to 30-days assistance per individual or household;
- Up to 90 days (3 months) rent or mortgage assistance to prevent eviction or foreclosure;
- Up to 90 days (3 months) of utility assistance for gas, electric and water service;
- Supplies, including but not limited to cleaning supplies, and small equipment essential to feed or shelter people, not exceeding $300 per item
Please note, funds are paid directly to grantees through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program National Board.
Application deadline is Saturday, March 2 by 11:59pm. Technical assistance will not be available after 5pm on Friday, March 1 or on Saturday, March 2.
